Pediatric ENT

Synergy ENT Specialists provides comprehensive care to children suffering with ear, nose and throat conditions. Some of the more common issues that we treat include the following:

Chronic Ear Infections (Otitis Media)

Chronic ear infections are when the middle ear becomes infected frequently as a result of a sore throat, cold or respiratory infection.

Symptoms may include:

  • Ear pain
  • Ear drainage
  • Hearing difficulties
  • Loss of balance
  • Fever, especially in infants and young children
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Tugging or pulling at the ears

Most ear infections either resolve on their own or are effectively treated by antibiotics. Sometimes the infections become a chronic problem and require PE (pressure equalization) tubes. Ear tubes are tiny hollow tubes made of soft material and are placed through the ear drum (tympanic membrane.)

Ear tubes are designed to reduce the frequency of ear infections by allowing for adequate air ventilation and fluid drainage into the throat. Our highly trained and experienced physicians with insert the tubes by way of an outpatient surgical procedure called a myringotomy.

Tonsils And Adenoids

Tonsils and adenoids are two paired structures located at the back of the throat and nose, respectively. They are the body’s first line of defense of the immune system.

Although tonsils and adenoids are intended to help, sometimes they can cause airway obstruction or repeat bacterial infections.

If tonsils and/or adenoids cause more harm than good, it may be recommended they be removed. The removal procedure is called tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, respectively. Both are outpatient procedures and are often performed at the same time.

If your child is suffering with any of these conditions, schedule an appointment with one of our expertly trained and highly experienced physicians. They will provide your child with a thorough evaluation, accurate diagnosis, and customized treatment plan.
